The Paralympic Games were invented by Dr Guttman. By Alyssa & Léna

The Paralympics are same that the Olympic Games, but they are for disabled athletes. The first competition was an archery competition with, for instance, wheelchair people. The wounded athletes are extraordinary since they overpass and challenge themselves. First, we will talk about two athletes who are famous, Ibrahim Hamato and Theo Curin.
To begin, Ibrahim Hamato is an Egyptian athlete who participated in The Paralympic Games of Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Ibrahim lost his two arms because he was amputated owing to a train accident when he was 10 years old. Nevertheless, he practises ping-pong (table tennis). These performances are wonderful as Ibrahim Hamato holds his racket with only his mouth and tooth. He throws the ping-pong ball with his feet, that’s why he impressed us as well as his opponents. This athlete is very important for the Egyptians, as a consequence he is a legend for his country. Ibrahim is amazing since it’s very difficult to play without hands. He shows that he is fire-willed and that we can surpass ourselves.
Then, another famous athlete in France is named Theo Curin.
In our country, he is like a true ambassador of the Paralympic movement. Theo Curin is a swimmer, he competed at the Paralympic Games of Rio de Janeiro, the same that Ibrahim Hamato. Theo began the Paralympics when he was 16 years old, a teenager like us today, therefore he didn’t win medals during this competition.
When he was a 6-year-old child, Theo Curin caught a disease called « meningitis » which was the reason why he lost both his arms and legs, and why he was amputated. For him, “All is possible”, he is determined, puzzling and challenges himself.
To conclude, these athletes are surprising as they are strong-willed in spite of their handicaps. These values are to be shared by everybody, we can all surpass ourselves : “If you enjoy and practise, you can do it” or again “when you want, you can do it”. We are proud to see people who are not afraid of their injuries. In our point of view, it forces respect. Disabled athletes are like heroes, they show what they are capable of.
However, we really think that in general, we don’t speak enough of them, we don't read enough about their deeds.

They are both totally different with opposite lives. However, they participate in the Paralympics by winning many medals.
Marieke Vervoort
Marieke Vervoort is an athlete born on May 10, 1979. She was diagnosed with progressive paralysis at the age of 14. In spite of this, she became a great athlete since she did

She also won a silver medal in the 400m and a bronze medal in the 100m four years later in Brazil. However, her pains were more frequent and painful... She therefore ended her career after the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016.
Following this, she decided to be euthanized, the pain becoming too unbearable. She fulfilled her last wishes before she died on October 22nd.
